Diwali
Diwali, the festival of light and the victory of light and joy over the spiritual darkness, is the most popular festival of India. It is celebrated in India with a great joy and the reason behind it is that Lord Rama and Sita returned back to Ayodhya from the exile. It usually falls between 15th October to 15 November. It is dedicated to Laxmi the goddess of prosperity. All the houses are decorated with the twinkling little oil lamps or modern electronic lights and are kept neat and clean before arriving this festival. Various gift packages are distributed among the relatives and neighbors to share the joy with each other.
Holi
Holi, the festival of various colors, is celebrated in all over India and also in abroad with very interesting way and closes the peoples with each other. All barriers are down and all the inhibitions are shed on the day of this festival. On the eve of Holi bonfires are lit and Holi is celebrated by the throwing of colors on each other, by gaiety and noise, one could even say, by wild abandon. It is celebrated on the day after the full moon early in the march every year. Many ancient stories are behind the origin of this festival. The most popular word telling story is that the devotee of lord Vishnu, Bakt Prahlad, seated on the lap of demoness Holika, was saved from the effect of the fire by God and the demoness got burnt instead.

ID, the most popular festivals of Muslims, is celebrated in the month of Ramzan and in the ninth lunar month of the Islamic Calendar, the day following the appearance of the new moon.. It is the very auspicious festival of Muslims that is celebrated with lot of joy after completing the prayer in the end of the month of Ramzan world wide. Friends and relatives meet to provide greetings and gifts to each other 'Id Mubarak' and prayers.

15th August is our National festival and has a very deep importance in the life of an Indian because we got the freedom from the British rule and find this pride. It is celebrated by all Indians with a lot of joy and happiness for getting the freedom from the British rule.
Christmas
Christmas is celebrated in the memories of the Jesus Christ on the 25th December all over the country and the world as it marks the birth of the Jesus Christ. It is a very big and main important festival of the Christians. It is mainly falls in the month of March or April. Forty days fast is followed by Good Friday and Easter. On this day Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

26th January, The Republic Day, is celebrated by the Indians as the Republic Day of India. In the earlier year in 1950, the constitution of India is enforced. The constitution of India, that was written, came into law on this day in India.
Many fairs are also celebrated and organized in India on the specific day which has their importance in the life of an Indian and they participate happily in each and every activity of the fairs. As the Pouch Mela is celebrated in the Shantiniketan and this event marks the foundation day of it. Another Sonepur Fair is famous in all over the India for its biggest cattle fair in Asia. Sonepur is located in the Saran district in the northern part of the Bihar. Other fair named Tarnetar is famous for the three day Swayamvar (husband-hunt) organized every year in August to September. We have all sorts of fair and festivals like animal fairs, religious fairs and there are fairs to scratch the changing seasons. Other than the customary fairs some established festivals include elephants, camel races, dance and music.
